Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire – Iconic Kaiju Reportedly Set to Return

A fan-favorite kaiju will reportedly return for the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong sequel, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

According to a tweet posted by industry insider ViewerAnon, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will bring back Mothra, an iconic kaiju who made their first MonsterVerse appearance in 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

“Monsterverse fans, I’ve now had enough confirmation (multiple sources) to just say this outright: Mothra returns in GODZILLA X KONG,” the tweet reads.

“Mothra originally did not appear in the film (though there was an easter egg tease),” a follow-up tweet reads. “An original divine kaiju called Fosphera who didn’t test well is now Mothra and audiences are said to be much happier with the reveal.”
