Disney+ to Restore IMAX Scenes for Shang-Chi, 12 Other Marvel Movies

If you weren’t among the lucky fans who saw Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in IMAX, don’t despair. Disney+ has recently revealed that the movie will be available with the expanded aspect ratio scenes when it debuts on the streaming platform. The news is part of the many celebrations Disney is putting on for Disney+ Day.

Disney+ will officially release IMAX Enhanced for the occasion, an experience involving 12 additional movies in the MCU. Fans will now see in full the scenes where the screen expanded to show 26 per cent more picture. While it can’t precisely be total IMAX quality on TV, fans will be able to enjoy the 1:90:1 aspect ratio for sequences shot in the large format. The collaboration will also involve the audio department with some signature sound by DTS.

Marvel has even released a promo for the occasion. You can check it out here below.

“Disney, Marvel Studios, and IMAX have collaborated for years to bring the world’s most popular films to the big screen, and on Friday we’ll start to bring IMAX technology to subscribers with IMAX Enhanced viewing in the Disney+ app,” said Michael Paull, President of Disney+ and ESPN+, in a press release.

Disney+ Day will take place on November 12.
