Warner Bros. Sets First Cast Members For The Lost Boys Reboot

The Lost Boys are returning to movie theaters. Although a TV series based on the cult classic vampire flick has been in the works for a few years, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Warner Bros. is now developing a “reimagined take” for the big screen. The studio has already recruited Jaeden Martell and Noah Jupe to star in the new film.

Martell broke out with his role as Bill Denbrough in both It films. More recently, he appeared in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out and Apple TV+’s Defending Jacob. Jupe has starred in A Quiet Place and its recently released sequel. Earlier this year, he had a role in No Sudden Move, which premiered on HBO Max in July.

Additionally, WB has tasked Randy McKinnon to write the script for the Lost Boys reboot with Jonathan Entwistle sitting in the director’s chair. Entwistle previously displayed his knack for dark teen stories as a producer and director on Netflix’s The End of the F***ing World and I Am Not Okay With This. He is also working with eOne and Hasbro on their rebooted Power Rangers franchise and recently helmed the pilot for Disney+’s Willow series.

McKinnon is currently writing WB’s Static Shock movie, which is rumored to go straight to HBO Max. He also served as a writer on Netflix’s Chambers and Grand Army.

The original Lost Boys was directed by Joel Schumacher and hit theaters in 1987. Jason Patric and Corey Heim headlined the film as two brothers who move to a new town and discover that it is a feeding ground for a gang of vampires. The movie also featured Keifer Sutherland, Alex Winter, and Corey Feldman. It eventually spawned two direct-to-DVD sequels, both of which starred Feldman, and several comic book spinoffs
