Snake Eyes Touts Advance Ticket Sales With a New Stop-Motion PSA

The classic G.I. Joe cartoon is beloved for many reasons, but the infamous public service announcements that ended almost every episode easily crack the top 10. In each episode, the Joes would meet new impressionable youngsters and instill valuable life lessons. Now, Snake Eyes is carrying on that tradition with a special PSA of its own. To remind fans that advance tickets for the film are now on sale, Paramount has released a new teaser that hearkens back to the franchise’s ‘80s roots. Check it out for yourself below.

Presented in stop-motion animation using G.I. Joe action figures, the video shows yet another group of children engaging in reckless behavior. Unfortunately, they won’t listen to Gung-Ho, Roadblock, or Lady Jaye. But when Snake Eyes (or, more accurately, Henry Golding), shows up, they’re willing to lend an ear. Some of the other Joes, including team leader Duke, can’t understand why they made a Snake Eyes movie without them. Regardless, Golding explains that sometimes, a little distance is needed to explore a particular hero’s backstory.

Naturally, it wouldn’t be a Snake Eyes preview if there wasn’t any kung-fu thrown in for good measure. That’s why Cobra assassins show up to liven things up a bit. In the end, Golding proves himself more than capable of holding his own without any help from his fellow commandos. And as the old adage goes, “knowing is half the battle.”

Snake Eyes hits theaters on July 23.
