The Matrix is Returning To Theaters For Its 20th Anniversary

It’s hard to believe that it’s been two decades since the Wachowskis brought The Matrix to theaters. And now, for its 20th anniversary, fans can experience the film on the big screen again.

The Matrix will return for a one week engagement to select AMC Theaters at the end of August. Warner Bros. Pictures, AMC, and Dolby Laboratories Inc. announced the screenings, which will come to 135 theaters across the United States. They will support the Dolby Cinema format, complete with Dolby Vision picture and Dolby Atmos sound. The engagement will run from August 30 through September 5.

When The Matrix arrived in March 1999, it became an unexpected hit and made nearly $500 million worldwide. Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, and Carrie-Anne Moss headlined the film, and returned for The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. The movies also inspired a number of anime and video game spinoffs.
