Avengers: Endgame Deleted Scene Shows a Heroic Tribute

Even as Marvel Studios looks to the future, thoughts linger on the heroes who bid adieu to the MCU in Avengers: Endgame, particularly Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. And if you’re still reeling from his heroic sacrifice, this new deleted scene from the film isn’t going to make you feel any better. USA Today has premiered an alternate version of Tony’s death scene that will appear on Endgame’s upcoming Blu-ray release. You can watch it via Twitter below.

By now, we all know how events played out in the theatrical cut. After Pepper kissed him, the movie cut to Tony delivering his last words in a pre-recorded hologram message. What followed, of course, was his funeral service at the Stark cabin, featuring the many faces of the MCU dressed in proper mourning attire. But in this version, the heroes all dropped to one knee to honor their fallen comrade.

It’s understandable why the Russo brothers chose to omit this scene from the film. Although it’s undeniably touching, it also seems a little redundant given the funeral scene that came afterwards. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the clip verifies that Gamora wasn’t dusted after Tony snapped his fingers. Of course, the fact that Star-Lord was shown looking for her all but guarantees that she’ll return for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. But this is our biggest confirmation yet.

Do you think Marvel should have kept this scene in Avengers: Endgame? Let us know in the comment section below!
