Kevin Feige Says Spider-Man/Venom Crossover is Up To Sony

Spider-Man will return to the big screen next month for Far From Home. But fans are already wondering about the possibility of Spidey teaming up with Tom Hardy’s Venom sometime down the road. Sony scored big at the box office with Venom, which made over $850 million worldwide. So far, Sony hasn’t publicly addressed the possibility of a crossover film, but Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige has. CinemaBlend recently asked Feige about the idea during Far From Home’s premiere.

“I think probably it’s up to Sony. Sony has both those characters and has Venom in their world,” said Feige. “I don’t know what their plans are for another Venom or if they’re doing that. But it seems likely at some point.”

There is some reason to believe it could happen in partnership with Marvel Studios. Spider-Man: Homecoming made over $880 million at the box office in 2017. That was a big step up from Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has also enjoyed a prominent place in the MCU, which fueled Homecoming‘s performance.

Marvel hasn’t revealed its Phase 4 plans, but it may do so later this summer. Sony has been throwing around the idea of a possible Venom sequel, as well as an Into the Spider-Verse follow-up.

In the meantime, Spider-Man: Far From Home will arrive on July 2. So far, reviews have been positive, which may mean that both studios could have a huge hit on their hands.
