A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms adapts George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, starting with The Hedge Knight in 209 AC during the reign of King Aerys I Targaryen. This places the series approximately 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones Season 1, which begins in 297 AC.
Notably, the show takes place nearly 80 years after the events of the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war featured in House of the Dragon. This puts A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms timeline between the two series.
Here’s a brief overview of all three:
- House of the Dragon takes place approximately between 101 and 131 AC. The Dance of the Dragons occurs from 129 to 131 AC
- A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set between 209 and 212 AC
