A new rumor surrounding the next Black Panther film seems to have spread online. With the title of the third Black Panther installment appearing on production lists, fans are curious to know whether or not the news is legitimate.
Let’s take a closer look at the rumors surrounding this upcoming Marvel film.
Is the Black Panther 3 title Shadows of Wakanda?
The development of a third installment of the Black Panther films received confirmation after Denzel Washington revealed that he will appear in the film. While there is no official release date, this Marvel project will reportedly come out sometime around February 2028. Marvel also continues to maintain their silence around the film due to the upcoming Avengers film in 2026.
While there isn’t much information publicly available about Black Panther 3, a few production lists online claim the title of the film to be “Shadows of Wakanda.” However, there doesn’t appear to be strong evidence supporting this. Listed as currently “In Development/Pre-Production” the filming date mentioned is June 2026. Although, there is no official confirmation from Marvel about a title, filming date, or release date for Black Panther 3.
While speaking with Australia’s TODAY in November 2024, Denzel Washington revealed that Ryan Coogler is writing a part for him in the next Black Panther film. Following this, in December 2024, Kevin Feige officially confirmed that Black Panther 3 is in the works.
Before Black Panther 2, fans assumed Marvel would replace Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa’s actor. However, the plot of the film saw Shuri take the lead and go against Namor on her own. For Black Panther 3, fans could assume the return of characters like Shuri, Danai Gurira’s Okoye, Winston Duke’s M’Baku, and Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia. However, there is no other information available yet about the storyline of the film. Hence, fans should remain patient and take the title rumor with a pinch of salt.
