Scott Derrickson’s Black Phone 2 has finally arrived in cinemas, and fans are curious about its ending. With “the Grabber” dying in the first movie, viewers are wondering whether the sequel offers a definitive end to the villain.
Here are the details on what happened at Black Phone 2’s ending.

What happens to Grabber in Black Phone 2’s ending?
Unlike the first movie, The Black Phone, where the Grabber (Ethan Hawke) is a human serial killer, the sequel portrays the villain as a supernatural entity. Set four years after the events of the original, Finney (Mason Thames) and Gwen (Madeleine McGraw) are still struggling with the trauma they endured. However, Gwen, who has psychic abilities inherited from their late mother, starts experiencing visions of mutilated children and the Grabber himself. This leads them to a winter camp called Alpine Lake.
Through her visions, Gwen learns that to defeat Grabber and take away his powers, they need to find the three kids he murdered all those years ago, whose bodies were never found. With the help of the camp’s leader and others, they locate the missing bodies and lay them to rest.
In a tense confrontation, Finney and Gwen manage to defeat the Grabber, sinking him to the bottom of the frozen lake.
Do Finney and Gwen live or die in Black Phone 2?
Finney and Gwen do make it out alive from the camp. After defeating the Grabber, Gwen receives a call at the phone booth, which only she can hear. When she picks up the phone, she hears her mother’s voice at the other end.
In a surprising revelation, it was earlier revealed that their mother was also a victim of the Grabber. So, when they defeated him, their mother’s spirit finally found peace. On the call, she tells Gwen that her psychic abilities are a gift and not a curse. Knowing that she’s in a better place now, Gwen feels relieved.
Black Phone 2 is currently running in cinemas.
