Spider-Man 4 Has a New Villain: Tombstone’s Powers & Origin Explained

According to reports, Tombstone just joined the MCU’s Spider-Man 4. This revelation has brought excitement among fans, hinting at the tone of the upcoming superhero movie. While the story is being kept close to the chest, Tombstone’s inclusion gives fans an idea of where the movie is heading.

Here are the details on who the villain is and what his powers are.

Who is Marvel’s Tombstone in Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day?

Marvel just cast Marvin Jones III as Tombstone for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

A sources close to Deadline has spilled the beans regarding Jones III’s casting. However, no official sources have confirmed this news.

For the uninitiated, Tombstone, aka Alonzo Thompson “Lonnie” Lincoln, is a supervillain who has appeared in the comics, primarily as a villain for both Spider-Man and Daredevil. He is a dangerous crime boss in New York City, offering a street-level threat, yet formidable enough to face both. Tombstone is often depicted as an albino with squared-off features that resemble an actual tombstone.

Neither Jones nor Tombstone is new to Spider-Man movies. If the sources are true, Jones will be reprising his role as Tombstone after voicing the character in Sony’s animated Spider-Verse movies. He made his first appearance in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and will return to voice the character in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Whether he will be the main villain for Brand New Day has yet to be seen.

What are Tombstone’s powers and abilities?

Although he was born without any superpowers and was just at peak human condition, Tombstone gained his powers after getting exposed to a mysterious gas while trying to kill Robbie Robertson, The Daily Bugle’s ranking editor and his former schoolmate.

He possesses superhuman strength, capable of lifting 6 tons. His skin is nearly indestructible, which can withstand bullets, extreme temperatures, and, to some extent, electricity. Furthermore, he also has sharp, filed teeth that he often uses on his foes. Finally, he is adept in hand-to-hand combat and prefers to kill his enemies through strangulation.

Currently, the filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day is halted following Tom Holland’s head injury.
