At the time of writing, FX has neither canceled nor renewed Alien: Earth for Season 2. However, there are chances that another outing might happen based on recent speculations and how the show ended, leaving a clear set-up for the story to proceed.
On September 18, 2025, a well-known scooper, MyTimeToShineHello, shared details on Alien: Earth’s fate at FX on X (formerly Twitter). Their post read, “Looks like season 2 is happening,” hinting that the network could develop a follow-up installment. Nevertheless, fans still have to wait for an official confirmation from FX.
Previously, in a conversation, showrunner Noah Hawley was asked about his plans to continue the stories into another season. To this, he replied, “I do. I do. I mean, I think that I have a destination in mind story-wise, which allows me to know what the story is I’m telling, what it means.” He mentioned that they’re looking forward to streamlining the process so that the audience doesn’t have to wait for the next season for many years.
In a 2024 interview with Variety, FX boss John Landgraf revealed that they told Hawley to prioritize Alien: Earth. They wanted him to at least write two seasons of it before he gets back to Fargo.
“We’re pretty bullish on Alien: Earth, and we’ve told him that assuming, as we hope, Alien: Earth is a returning television series, we want him to focus on at least writing two seasons of it before returning to a possible sixth season of Fargo,” he added.
Generally, there are multiple factors involved in a series’ renewal, with audience reception and viewership being among the crucial ones. In Alien: Earth’s case, it managed to garner an impressive viewership. Currently, the show holds a strong 95% tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes. So, there is a high chance that it will get renewed.
