Some might be surprised by the Gabby’s Dollhouse The Movie box office predictions given that it’s a film for kids. The live-action movie by DreamWorks Animation based on the Gabby’s Dollhouse series on Netflix is slated to release nationwide in US theaters on September 26, 2025. When box office tracking started for the fantasy comedy film, it didn’t seem like it would make as much as it is expected to now.
How much is Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie expected to make?
At the domestic box office, Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie is expected to earn $20 million to $30 million in its opening weekend from September 26 to 28. Overall, it is projected to bring in somewhere between $56 million and $88 million over its full theatrical run in the US and Canada.
These predictions come from a September 17 report from BoxOfficeTheory, which compares the box office projections of Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie to other productions. The Jordan Peele-produced sports-horror film Him (which releases on September 19), is expected to make $17 million to $27 million in its opener, while One Battle After Another (September 26) is tracking to earn a similar amount of $20 million to $30 million. In late August, the movie was only projected to bring in $10 million to $20 million in its opener and $46 million to $82 million overall.
Surprisingly, this means that this Gabby’s Dollhouse film has the chance of being the top weekly box office earner in the latter half of September. These high projections for the movie is something theaters will be excited to hear as they have plenty of colorful popcorn buckets and merch to sell. It won’t be until the following month when Disney’s Tron: Ares releases on October 10 that a movie will likely overtake the box office.
Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie follows Gabby, played by actress Laila Lockhart Kraner, as she takes a trip to Cat Francisco with her grandmother Gigi. However, a cat lady named Vera, played by Kristen Wiig, takes Gabby’s dollhouse for her collection, pushing Gabby to head out on an adventure to take it back.
