Nigeria decides to counterattack
Chapter 317 commences after the events of the previous chapter in which Japan took a lead of 2-0 over Nigeria. It begins with the commentators announcing that only 10 minutes remain for the first half to end, and Japan is leading. Hence, commentators question whether Nigeria can counterattack and bounce back in the game or if Japan will maintain their lead. Fans then witness Nigeria trying to get back, and Kuso stating that Blue Lock is the strongest team they have ever encountered.
Kuso passes the ball to Onazi
The chapter then moves to Kuso, analyzing that Isagi, Karasu, and Aiku are the biggest strengths in the middle for Blue Lock. He states that these three observe and then use their logic to read the tactics of the opposition. Furthermore, deciding upon whether to use offense or defense. After all this, Kuso finally determines that Isagi is the ringleader of Japan, and Nigeria can’t win unless he is crushed. Thus, Kuso passes the ball to Onazi to continue the counterattack.
Onazi challenges Isagi
Fans then see a flashback of Onazi and others dreaming of going pro when they were kids. The scene switches back to the field, where Nigeria starts to connect their passes. The flashback again showcases Onazi stating how it is hard to become a professional. However, kid Oboabona and Kuso assert that they will achieve the dream as they have Onazi in the team, labeling him their shining hope. In the last minutes of the first half, Kuso explains how Onazi is such a great striker due to his ability to shoot mid-air. The scene cuts to Onazi stating that he wants to surpass Isagi.
Gagamaru stops Onazi
In the next frame, Gagamaru is seen facing some baseballs in a flashback as part of a special training assigned by Ego Jinpachi to improve his reaction speed. In the present, he looks at the shot made by Onazi and finds the ball is slower than the baseball ones. He announces himself as the Guardian deity of Japan and stops the ball, helping Japan to keep their 2-0 lead.
