Alien: Earth Reveals Why Morrow Didn’t Save Captain Zaveri

Alien: Earth Episode 5 revealed why Morrow didn’t save Captain Zaveri. It was an exciting and intense flashback episode. After catching a glimpse of Zaveri’s death in the premiere episode, fans were left wondering how it all came to that and why Morrow chose to save only himself.

Here’s what happened in Alien: Earth Episode 5.

Why didn’t Morrow save Captain Zaveri in Alien: Earth Episode 5’s ending?

Last week’s Alien: Earth Episode 4 was fascinating and ended on a cliffhanger. In Episode 5, viewers witnessed the events that led to the death of USCSS Maginot’s entire team.

The episode showcased an intense Xenomorph chase scene, evoking the nostalgia of the classics. Near the end of the episode, Zaveri is running for life through the corridors of the Maginot. She initially gets trapped with Shmuel, whose mind is taken over by the eyeball creature. However, she escapes the room to be later trapped outside a security pod, pleading to Morrow to let her in. But Morrow doesn’t save Zaveri. Instead, he welds the door shut.

This decision not to let her in was to use her as bait and buy himself time to survive. Even if he had tried to save her, there wasn’t enough room for both of them. And since the ship was heading uncontrollably towards Earth, there was nothing he could do. So, he locks himself under the panels of the isolation chamber and braces for impact.

Morrow has demonstrated ruthlessness from the beginning, as his mission has solely been to collect and preserve the alien samples. He’s not there to protect his fellow crew members. Giving viewers more background on this past, the episode also revealed that Yutani’s grandmother had taken him in and replaced his palsy-ridden arm with a new one. This gesture led to his unwavering loyalty to the company.

Alien: Earth Episode 5’s ending also hints at what’s to come as Morrow promises Yutani to kill Boy Kavalier and retrieve the samples.
