Alien: Earth Episode 5 sparked a curious question in fans’ minds: who sabotaged the Yutani Maginot ship? Titled “In Space, No One…”, the episode reveals the culprit responsible for damaging the ship, which led to its horrific crash into Prodigy City on Earth. Morrow is tasked with investigating the case. Although he initially suspects Rahim and the robot Teng, the latest episode uncovers that it wasn’t them but another key character. Here are the details.

Who sabotaged the Yutani Maginot ship on Alien: Earth and why?
Chief Engineer Petrovich sabotaged the Maginot ship in Alien: Earth. Boy Kavalier offered him a fortune in exchange for making the ship crash in his territory.
Although Morrow suspected two other characters, it turned out that Petrovich was behind it all along. He struck a deal with Boy Kavalier, confirmed by a recorded video call, where Petrovich exposed the alien specimen to Kavalier while keeping his motives hidden from Weyland-Yutani. Motivated by greed, Petrovich ensured the vessel crash-landed on Earth as Kavalier promised him money.
The episode explains how Petrovich carried out the mission. He did not intend to release the alien species, as he knew they might endanger his life. Instead, he caused a fire and explosion to damage the vessel, which also released two xenomorphs. Others managed to escape using their survival skills. He blew a hole in the Maginot that turned the ship into a missile, appearing to target Earth.
On top of this, Petrovich also faked being in cryo-sleep. He tricked the vessel’s system and hacked it to show that he was still in the cryo-pod when he wasn’t. The entire time, he was hiding in the mechanical areas and carrying out his plans. Teng was aware of his mission but chose not to reveal it. Petrovich also attempted to steal Prodigy’s hybrid tech to obtain a “new body.” His plan failed when Morrow interrupted and killed him.
