Filming for Avengers: Doomsday is in full swing. But following an Instagram post, fans are speculating that Thor is going to die in the movie. This has left everyone worried, questioning whether this is where Odinson’s story comes to an end.
Will Chris Hemsworth’s Thor die in Avengers: Doomsday?
While fans continue to speculate about Thor’s possible death in Avengers: Doomsday, nothing is confirmed, as of now.
The filming for Avengers: Doomsday is underway and is scheduled to release on December 18, 2026. The MCU has brought back the Russo brothers to direct the movie, along with Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
Among all the superheroes, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is the only OG Avenger to have made it this far in the MCU. But after a recent Instagram post, fans are worried that Thor’s long journey might finally end with Avengers: Doomsday.
An Instagram user, @dodge0509, shared a post with the caption that reads, “Just finished working with these legends, @chrishemsworth @zocobodypro @azzagrist, I can honestly say they are three of the nicest humans I have met, it’s been an awesome experience working with them and I look forward to the next time, miss you guys.”
The post, which has now garnered a lot of attention on Instagram and X, appears to suggest that Hemsworth has finished filming his part. However, this does not confirm his death in any way. Still, that has not stopped the internet from speculating and theorizing.
Theories suggest that, after all the turmoil that Thor has been through, he might sacrifice himself in the movie. Since all his family and friends are dead, he has very little to live for. His latest loss was the death of Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder. But with Gorr the God Butcher’s daughter still under his care, will he really sacrifice himself?
Another theory suggests that he has a small role in Avengers: Doomsday, and the character is being saved for Secret Wars and Thor 5. Currently, there is no announcement about Hemsworth’s appearance in Secret Wars, with very little information on Thor 5. But with the MCU’s ever-changing plans, his involvement could change in the future.
For now, his death in the upcoming Avengers outing remains unconfirmed.
