After the success of Superman, James Gunn seems to have a packed slate planned for the DCU, and it also includes a secret DCU show that no one seemingly knows about. While talking to a podcast, Gunn had said they have another mystery DCU show lined up.
So, what could this new mystery series be, and who could lead it? Here are the speculations.
List of DC characters who could lead DCU’s secret TV show
While speaking with the I Think You’re Overthinking It podcast, James Gunn stated, “And then we have another TV show we are making which nobody knows about, which is going next,” while speaking of the future of DCU.
The Justice Gang
The Justice Gang already introduced a host of exciting characters like Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern, Mr. Terrific, and Hawkgirl. It would not be unwise to develop a story around them. They could be joined by other DC characters like Peacemaker and Doctor Phosphorous, too.
Mr. Terrific series
All DC fans can unanimously agree that Mr. Terrific in Superman was a hit. Edi Gathegi’s take on the character was exceptional, and fans were blown away by the comic accuracy of the character. It is often the norm to build on popular characters, so a Mr. Terrific series could make sense.
The adventures of Lobo
If Gunn does intend to build a Superman saga, making a series based on Lobo could be a good move. Interestingly, making a Lobo series will also pack a lot of star power with Jason Momoa cast for the role. Momoa’s recent Chief of War proves that the actor is profitable on streaming, and he can replicate the success as Lobo.
A Batman villain series
Like Lobo, there could be a Batman villain that gets a spinoff. As most fans know, Batman has a plethora of excellent villains. So, there could be a spinoff based on any of them. Gotham and Penguin already showed the potential Batman characters have, and it could also prove to be a good bridge between the new DCU and the new Batman movie.
The Justice Society of America
Finally, the series could also be about the Justice Society of America. The JSA has a hoard of exciting characters and a huge lore that a series could explore. This will also allow DCU to introduce key DC characters like Doctor Fate, Hourman, the Spectre, Sandman, Atom, and Hawkman, among others.
Fans will soon learn about the series James Gunn is creating. Any of the ideas mentioned could be an exciting addition to the DCU.
