Why South Park Season 27 Didn’t Release Episode 2 on July 30

South Park Season 27, Episode 2 was supposed to premiere on July 30, but it was ultimately postponed by a week. The series, which centers around four foul-mouthed friends and their misadventures around the town, airs every Wednesday. Now that the latest episode skipped its release window this week, many are curious to know the reason behind it.

Here are the details on why a new episode didn’t air and when it will premiere next.

Why Episode 2 of South Park Season 27 wasn’t released on July 30

South Park Season 27 Episode 2 didn’t air on July 30 due to the premiere episode’s controversy.

Episode 1, titled “Sermon on the ‘Mount,’” received severe backlash for taking a subtle jab at President Donald Trump and Paramount+’s tumultuous lawsuit. Moreover, it also showcased Trump in an explicit scene, where his naked and AI-generated counterpart pleads for intimacy from satan.

Trump‘s White House criticised the premiere episode by releasing a statement to Variety. The statement read, “The Left’s hypocrisy truly has no end – for years they have come after ‘South Park’ for what they labeled as ‘offense’ content, but suddenly they are praising the show. Just like the creators of ‘South Park,’ the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows.”

During Comic-Con, the creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone addressed the controversy. They said, “We’re terribly sorry,” which was followed by a lengthy, straight-faced stare. (via The Guardian)

When will South Park Season 27 Episode 2 be released?

South Park Season 27 Episode 2 will now premiere on August 6, originally on Comedy Central and the next day on Paramount+.

Episode 2 seems to continue the premiere episode, featuring Trump, still involved with Satan. They have a discreet physical interaction at a black-tie event. Moreover, Eric Cartman appears to yell at his friend at a public forum as he says, “You can just shut up, Bebe, because you have America and you love abortion.”
