The Sandman is arguably one of the most intriguing shows from Netflix in recent years, and after Season 2, which ended brilliantly, fans are wondering if there will be a The Sandman Season 3. Here is what we know about the possible third season of this show.
Could The Sandman Season 3 get renewed?
There are chances that The Sandman Season 3 will not happen. The second season of the show was supposed to be the last season, as announced earlier. Though the series ended quite quickly and the comics have a lot more material, The Sandman Season 2 was dubbed the final one.
However, a recent discussion with showrunner and writer Allan Heinberg revealed that there could still be some hope. He recently sat with TV Insider and discussed many aspects of The Sandman in detail.
Towards the end of the interview, Heinberg spoke about the possibility of a crossover with the newly established DCU, saying, “If [DC Studios co-CEOs] James [Gunn] or Peter [Safran] wanted there to be crossover of some kind, that would be delightful to me. But it would be a decision of theirs rather than a decision of ours.” But more interestingly, he revealed that he intentionally wrote the second season’s ending in a way that could continue Daniel’s story as the new Dream.
He said, “I designed the end of this season with a possible Season 3 in mind, because I love Jacob [Anderson] so much that I just wanted to continue watching him play this part forever. So, in Season 3 of my Ds, yeah, there’s all kinds of stuff going on. There are all kinds of crossovers going on.”
This seemingly hints that there is still a chance. If the second season does very well and Netflix decides to continue the series, The Sandman Season 3 may happen. But as it stands currently, the show has concluded for good, and fans should not get their hopes up for a third season just yet. Perhaps a spin-off in the future could serve the purpose.
The show is now streaming on Netflix.
