Dexter: Resurrection Creates a Plot Hole in Why Angela Let Dexter Go

Dexter: Resurrection is here, and despite the hype surrounding it, the series debut has met some criticism from fans, as it appears to include a few plot holes that are difficult to overlook. One of the most debated points surrounds why Angela let Dexter go. Viewers who have watched Dexter: New Blood already know the answer, but the explanation does not fit well into the new narrative of Dexter: Resurrection.

Why did Angela let Dexter go in the New Blood series?

Angela ultimately let Dexter go in New Blood after he helped her take down Kurt Caldwell, the serial killer who murdered multiple women in town, including Angela’s best friend. From Angela’s perspective, there was an emotional element involved in her decision. She also seemed to have had feelings for Dexter at one point.

Angela chose to set Dexter free after realizing that his method was different. She also believed that he was ultimately protecting innocent people in his own way. However, is that enough to justify letting a serial killer go free? This is where the plot holes of Dexter: Resurrection begin to surface.

What plot holes does Dexter: Resurrection create?

Several plot holes have been pointed out by fans. These include how Dexter affords rent in New York City and how Harrison finds a spare toilet seat to cover up the murder. A major inconsistency, however, is that Angela letting Dexter go appears to have triggered no response. All law enforcement agencies seem to have withdrawn from the case because of it. Even if enough evidence existed against Kurt Caldwell, it would not automatically mean that Dexter could live freely without consequences.

Additionally, Dexter does not appear to face any consequences for murdering Officer Logan. This incident played a major role in New Blood, but it seems to have little to no relevance in the new series.

Perhaps there are ways Dexter: Resurrection plans to fix these things. But for now, there appears to be no direct explanation.
