The Black Panther 3 theatrical release date is a big talking point among Marvel fans. Officially announced in December 2024, the third installment continues the legacy of the late Chadwick Boseman and expands Wakanda’s future. Ryan Coogler returns to direct, with Denzel Washington confirmed to join the cast.
What is the Black Panther 3 release date estimate?
The Black Panther 3 release date estimate is 2028.
This estimate is based on Marvel Studios’ announcement that the film will debut after Avengers: Secret Wars, which is currently slated for 2027. Disney has also announced that Marvel Studios will release an untitled movie on December 15, 2028, potentially making space for Black Panther 3 on the slate.
Producer Nate Moore confirmed in early 2025 that Black Panther 3 would begin development once Coogler completes his film Sinners. Moore also confirmed the film will not release before Secret Wars, placing it in a likely 2028 slot within Marvel’s post-Avengers release calendar.
Black Panther 3 news and updates
Black Panther 3 is currently in development. Denzel Washington revealed in a November 2024 interview that Ryan Coogler is writing a role for him. Coogler later confirmed the news on a podcast, saying, “Denzel is family at this point… I’ve been trying to work with him since day one.”
Letitia Wright (Shuri) is expected to return, having taken on the Black Panther mantle in Wakanda Forever. Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), Winston Duke (M’Baku), and Danai Gurira (Okoye) are likely to reprise their roles. Angela Bassett’s Queen Ramonda died in the sequel, so her return is unlikely.
The film’s plot remains under wraps, but Wakanda Forever ended with major shifts in Wakanda’s leadership. Shuri relinquished the throne, and M’Baku stepped forward as a contender for kingship. The mid-credits scene revealed that T’Challa fathered a son, Toussaint, hinting at a future succession conflict.
Michael B. Jordan’s potential return as Killmonger is widely speculated. Coogler declined to comment when asked about reuniting with Jordan, fueling rumors.
While Black Panther 3 has no official synopsis, Marvel will return to Wakanda sooner in Eyes of Wakanda, an animated series premiering August 27 on Disney+.
