Dream of the Endless, the protagonist of The Sandman, is a DC character but does not quite fit in with the famed superheroes fans adore, mainly because Dream’s powers far exceed those of most DC superheroes or even supervillains. The cosmic entity possesses abilities that define both imagination and realms beyond imagination.

Dream can create objects, scenarios, and even entities at will. This power is limited in the Waking World, but it is still a very strong power to have in his arsenal.
Inspiration
Dream is the Prince of Stories. This means that he is the embodiment of imagination. He governs the world of fiction and stories. The library in his castle contains every book ever written and every book ever thought of. This also includes dream logs for all mortal creatures.
Inducing Sleep, Dreams, and Nightmares
One of the most eye-catching abilities depicted in The Sandman is Dream’s power to induce sleep in mortal beings and create dreams or nightmares at will. This power is all-encompassing, as it allows Dream to put someone to sleep forever or trap entities in dreams.
Dream Travel
Finally, Dream can also transport himself and other beings to different dimensions and magical realms. He can travel by going through the dreams of mortal beings within the Dreaming and emerging at will in the Waking World. This ability was also showcased in The Sandman.
