Why Marvel Studios Canceled Its Assembled Series on Disney+

A new report suggests that Marvel Studios has recently canceled the Disney+ series, Assembled, leaving many curious about the reason behind it. This documentary-style television series takes viewers behind the scenes of beloved MCU movies and shows. Along with exclusive interviews of cast and crew members, it also gives insights into creative decisions and the production process.

Here are details on why the series has been canceled.

Why Marvel Studios: Assembled series has possibly been canceled

At the time of writing, Marvel Studios hasn’t revealed the reason behind the cancellation of the Assembled series. The studio might have canceled it as a measure to cut costs and reduce projects. The decision could also be attributed to the series not attracting the expected viewership, which might have made it difficult to justify the production costs.

The news about the series’ cancellation broke out when TVLine reported that Marvel Studios has no plans to continue its Assembled series. This series originally premiered on March 12, 2021, releasing its first episode about “The Making of WandaVision.” Since then, the series has dropped episodes of different MCU projects, which offer fans a glimpse into the overall filmmaking process and valuable insights from those involved.

The last episode that premiered was “The Making of Agatha All Along,” which aired in November 2024. After the Kathryn Hahn-led series, several movies and shows have arrived like Captain America: Brave New World, Daredevil: Born Again, and Thunderbolts*. However, Marvel Studios hasn’t released any episodes about the making of these projects through Assembled.

Recently, TVLine Insider Matt Webb Mitovich was asked whether Marvel Studios plans to release more episodes of Assembled. He responded, “I love me a Marvel Studios: Assembled episode, too; alas, I’m hearing that there are no new episodes of the Disney+ franchise planned at this time.” This reveals that fans might not get to see the production process behind MCU projects released in 2025 and beyond.
