Mortal Kombat 2 Release Date, Trailer Window & Things We Know

The Mortal Kombat franchise is returning with a vengeance. After the 2021 reboot drew fans back into the arena, Mortal Kombat 2 is finally gearing up for release soon. With fan-favorite fighters, brand-new faces, and an R-rated promise of blood and brutality, the sequel aims to deliver a fatality-filled movie.

So here’s everything we know so far, from the Mortal Kombat 2 release date, cast to trailer release, and more.

When is Mortal Kombat 2’s release date scheduled?

Mortal Kombat 2 is officially set to release in theaters on October 24, 2025. The sequel will come more than four years after the release of the first film, which reintroduced the video game legend to a new generation of fans. It was confirmed in July 2022, following development buzz that started earlier that year in January.

Mortal Kombat 2’s plot will reportedly go straight into the Mortal Kombat tournament itself. It is a storyline fans have been eager to see since the reboot teased it. With Earthrealm’s fate hanging in the balance, the movie’s stakes couldn’t be higher.

When will Mortal Kombat 2’s trailer come out?

Although the film is only a few months away, Warner Bros. has yet to release a trailer. But fans won’t have to wait much longer. Producer Todd Garner recently teased on X (formerly Twitter) that Mortal Kombat 2’s first trailer will drop in July 2025. He even shared a sneak peek of the trailer’s rating screen, confirming the film has earned an R-rating, just like its brutal predecessor.
