Daredevil: Born Again Episode 9, “Straight to Hell,” is now available on Disney+. It’s the final episode of the season and has a post-credits scene featuring Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle / Punisher, prompting fans to wonder about the character’s fate. Frank only appears in two episodes of the show, but his impact on the narrative is undeniable. Here’s everything you need to know about whether he lives or dies in the Daredevil Born: Again post-credits scene.

Does the Punisher die in Daredevil: Born Again’s post-credits scene?
No, the Punisher doesn’t die in the post-credits scene of Daredevil: Born Again Episode 9.
After Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock / Daredevil took a bullet for Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, he is hospitalized. Later, Fisk sends Arty Froushan’s Buck Cashman to kill Matt, but he escapes and later discovers that Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page has requested Frank to protect Matt. The pair fights through a group of AVTF operatives to get away and meet up with Karen.
The Punisher takes on several other AVTF operatives later in the episode. While he manages to kill a few of them, he is ultimately defeated. Admirers of Frank’s work as they are, Connor Powell and others urge him to join them, but Frank vehemently refuses the idea.
It is revealed toward the end of the episode that Frank has been sent to Red Hook along with other enemies of Fisk, including Tony Dalton’s Jack Duquesne / Swordsman. In the post-credits scene, the Punisher lures in a guard, Anthony Petruccio, yet another AVTF member who idolizes him. Frank murders Anthony, and it is heavily implied that he will likely escape from Red Hook.
The Punisher’s escape from captivity effectively sets up the upcoming Marvel Special Presentation on the character, slated for release on Disney+ sometime in 2026. He can also potentially appear in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which is also expected to come out next year.
