Daredevil: Why Bullseye Sees Things in Blue & Hears That Buzzing Sound

Fans are curious about the significance of the blue color and buzzing sound in Wilson Bethel’s character, Benjamin Poindexter, AKA Bullseye’s life in Daredevil: Born Again. The character was an integral part of Netflix’s Daredevil series and is now leaving a lasting impact in Disney+’s revival series.

So, here is everything fans need to know regarding what the blue lighting and buzzing sound mean for Bullseye’s character.

Bullseye’s blue lighting and buzzing sound in Daredevil: Born Again explained

Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye appears again in Episode 8 of Daredevil: Born Again and tries to assassinate Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk after breaking out of prison. However, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, AKA Daredevil, sabotages his plan. This appearance comes after Benjamin Poindexter kills Murdock’s friend and lawyer, Foggy Nelson, in the first episode of the series.

Before Bullseye attempts the assassination, the scene appears to have blue lighting, which is closely related to the character. The blue light is then shown countless times in the episode when Poindexter is sent to prison with the general population. Here, the prisoners also appear in blue light.

Additionally, a blue rose is shown in the episode when Poindexter escapes prison. According to Screen Rant, the blue light for Bullseye represents him getting ready to let his violent instincts take over. This is similar to how Matt Murdock is shown in red frames as he becomes Daredevil. Besides, in the comics, Bullseye sports a blue costume. Hence, the choice of blue lighting in the TV adaptations is likely a subtle reference to the same.

Another significant detail, the buzzing sound, also accompanies Poindexter in some scenes, along with the blue light. Per ScreenCrush, the buzzing sound is introduced in Netflix’s Daredevil and is somewhat symbolic of Bullseye’s anger toward the world. The sound also means that the character is frustrated with things not turning out the way he planned.

Furthermore, this buzzing sound complements the blue light when Benjamin Poindexter, AKA Bullseye, is imprisoned with the general population.
