Then in a November 2024 Empire interview, Cox mentioned that although there were talks to reinvent the mythos established in the Netflix show for Born Again, it ended up becoming “more of a continuation” of the original series.
Later, in February 2025, Vincent D’Onofrio said in a Deadline interview that Born Again was essentially a “fourth season” of the original show.
