McFarlane Toys Finally Makes the Batfleck Figure Fans Want

It’s not that McFarlane Toys hasn’t made action figures of Ben Affleck as Batman — they’ve been made for Justice League and The Flash. But when it comes to the costume everyone likes — the Batman V Superman basic Batsuit that’s basically the Dark Knight Returns comic-book costume adapted to the screen — it’s been a long wait. One that’s finally coming to an end.

“Tell Me…Do You Bleed? You Will.”

Love the movie, hate the movie, most fans agree the costume is a winner. It accentuates the wearer’s physique while still allowing him to move, fight, and be vulnerable to opponents’ weapons if he doesn’t do those other two things quickly enough. Prior and subsequent Batsuits may have erred on the side of being too armor-like and restrictive. The Batman of the comics is vulnerable and mobile — it’s part of what makes him Batman.

Preorders begin January 19th at most online retailers. Now that this body sculpt exists, with what looks like a cloth cape, we can probably expect a blue repaint, a Joker-ized version, and perhaps Knightmare Batman with a trenchcoat thrown on top. With McFarlane Toys now revisiting older movies, perhaps we can even get a BvS-styled Aquaman, or Parademons. The hottest rumor, though, is that the next movie-based figure will be an Anne Hathaway Catwoman with Batpod.

Ben Affleck’s Snyder-verse Batman began in controversy, as his general destructiveness with the Batmobile and branding of criminals caused a lot more death than the caped crusader would normally allow. After regaining his faith in humanity from Superman’s sacrifice, however, he became the de facto leader of the Justice League, and by the time of The Flash movie, was safely busting bank robbers while wearing a blue and gray costume. As an action figure, of course, he can represent any storyline the collector prefers.
