Marvel Legends Kicks off Wolverine 50th Anniversary Line

He’s the best there is at what he does. And what he does is sell toys — lots and lots of toys. Wolverine, a.k.a. Logan, a.k.a. James Howlett has been a perennial best-seller ever since he appeared in Marvel’s Secret Wars toy line from the ’80s. From debuting as a Hulk opponent to becoming the most popular X-Men character and giving Hugh Jackman a career on the acting A-list, the claw-popping, stogie-sucking, self-healing, short-but-mighty mutant remains a favorite with angsty kids of all ages. And 2024 will mark a half-century of his heroic hijinks.

Beginning in spring, Marvel Legends will embark on an anniversary program to celebrate Wolverine with even more toys. Two of the two-packs will go up for preorder before the year is out. Revealed on a Hasbro Pulse livestream today, a series of two-packs will include Psylocke and Wolverine, Patch Wolverine and Joe Fixit in tuxes, Logan vs. Sabretooth, and Lilandra with Brood Wolverine. Those last two will go up for preorder at Hasbro Pulse and specialty retailers tomorrow, December 15, at 1 p.m. ET.

But it’s not just about Wolverine. Other reveals from Hasbro include some long-awaited comic variants and characters, including a Sam Wilson Captain America who’ll be exclusive to Target and a Hydra Steve Rogers for Walmart. The first look at the fan-voted Red Widow figure was revealed along with a new Angel figure with massive, poseable wings. For MCU fans, the separate boxed figure line will rerelease Iron Spider (non-appendage version) and Iron Man Mark LXXXV. Neither one includes actor portrait.

Finally, the obligatory future figure tease looked like some sort of flame base, which could be for any number of characters.

Wolverine doesn’t age — or at least he stopped at a certain point post-puberty. So to him, 50 is just a number. For collectors, it looks to be a bigger number deducted from the paycheck in 2024. Check out some screencaps below.
