Deadpool #10 Preview Finds Wade Wilson and Daughter Training

Mercenary work is not typically associated with a family business. Then again, Wade Wilson is far from a typical father. Regardless, the Regenerating Degenerate is a deep believer in family bonding and doing right by his daughter. However, as the preview of Deadpool #10 reveals, the two still have a lot to learn when it comes to fighting together.

Written by Cody Ziglar, with art by Rogê Antônio, Deadpool #10 finds Wade and his daughter, Ellie Camacho, preparing to spar with Taskmaster. Tony Masters is widely regarded as one of the best combat instructors in the Marvel Universe, if not the best. However, even his skills (and patience) may meet their match in teaching tactics to the chaotic daddy/daughter duo.

Deadpool #10 highlights new duo’s strengths and weaknesses

The dynamic between Wade Wilson and Ellie Camacho is one of the most interesting relationships in Marvel Comics. Originally, Deadpool tried to keep his daughter out of his business and vice versa. However, when it became clear that she had inherited his healing factor, Wade began training Elle in how to survive.

While sharing a superpower, it manifests in slightly different ways. Wade’s healing is hindered by his cancer, and has been further weakened following his resurrection. By contrast, Elle can heal faster than her father, but is less experienced in using her healing in a fight. Additionally, Elle’s healing factor has enhanced her brain’s processing power, giving her something akin to Taskmaster’s photographic reflexes.

However, inexperience and a reluctance to face pain hinder Elle’s fully taking advantage of her powers. By contrast, Wade is aware of how to exploit his powers, but takes risks he doesn’t need to trusting on his healing to save him. Presumably the two could be effective together if they learned from one another’s mistakes, but those lessons may be long in coming.

Deadpool #10 arrives in comic shops everywhere on January 29, 2025.
