Marvel is revisiting a classic Silver Surfer run with the same creative team that redefined the character in the 1990s. Starting next year, writer Ron Marz and artist Ron Lim will return to the far reaches of space for Silver Surfer: Rebirth.
Similar to Marvel’s X-Men Legends and Symbiote Spider-Man titles, Rebirth is giving Marz and Lim the chance to weave brand new story threads into the ones they already laid out nearly three decades ago. Over the course of five issues, readers will follow the former herald of Galactus as he goes in search of the missing Reality Gem, which has already been used to bring Captain Mar-Vell back from the dead. Along the way, the Surfer will find an unlikely ally in the Mad Titan himself, Thanos, who understands the stone’s power better than anyone else. “Turns out you can go home again,” said Marz in a new statement. “Silver Surfer with Ron Lim was literally my first job in comics. The first comic page I ever wrote was drawn by Ron when we were both kids. And now three decades later we get to go back there and slip right back into that same groove. It’s so great to be wielding the power cosmic again.”

“I am so thrilled to be penciling Silver Surfer: Rebirth,” added Lim. “When Darren Shan, our editor, asked if I’d be interested in working on this with Ron Marz, I jumped at the chance. It is fantastic to be working with Ron again. It has been quite a while since we worked together, but it feels like hardly a day has passed. I’m having a blast getting to draw many of my favorite characters from our run. The story is full of surprises, familiar characters and crazy cosmic action!
