Ron Lim’s Latest G.O.D.S. Variant Cover Reimagines Marvel’s Living Tribunal

Marvel Comics has revealed legendary Silver Surfer artist Ron Lim‘s variant cover for January’s G.O.D.S. #4.

Last month, Marvel announced that it had enlisted Lim to craft a special series of G.O.D.S. variant covers paying homage to his own classic covers for the 1990s Cosmic Powers series. Lim’s variants adorn issues #3-8 of G.O.D.S. — and utilize series artist Valerio Schiti‘s new designs for some of Marvel’s most iconic cosmic entities. Lim’s G.O.D.S. #3 variant features Oblivion, while his newly-revealed issue #4 cover stars none other than the Living Tribunal. Subsequent covers will depict Master Order, Lord Chaos, Infinity, and Eternity.

“It’s so cool revisiting these covers after all these years,” Lim said. “I remember how much fun I had working on them. Valerio Schiti’s new character designs are fantastic and it’s a blast drawing them on these homage covers!”

What to expect from G.O.D.S. #4

Written by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Schiti, G.O.D.S. launched this past October. The ambitious series seeks to redefine the cosmology of the Marvel Universe. It centers on The-Powers-That-Be and The-Natural-Order-of-Things — two organizations that respectively govern magic and science within the Marvel Universe.

An official synopsis for the upcoming fourth issue reads as follows: “That guy in the beekeeper suit is holding a thing that’s freaking everyone out. A Skinner box is bigger on the inside than the outside. The Avatar makes an enemy on the Axis of Power. If you save the universe and no one remembers, is it worth it? Maybe.”

G.O.D.S. #4 goes on sale January 24, 2024 from Marvel Comics. The issue features a main cover by Mateus Manhanini.
