Legends of Tomorrow Star Caity Lotz Talks Her Directorial Debut

There is a reason why White Canary was almost absent in the latest episodes of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. And while the fans still have to get an explanation on-screen, off-screen this choice was to allow Caity Lotz to direct the fifth episode of Legends of Tomorrow Season 5. The final result of Lotz’s directorial debut was an action-packed episode like the one fans saw in “Mortal Khanbat.”

“I had, like, a John Woo-style episode, massive action episode, and something with electric scooters,” Lotz said in a recent interview with TV Line. “The episode was humongous, [with] two very different storylines happening that were both pretty intense. It was really cool.”

But the Legends fighting against Genghis Khan was just one of the plots developing in the latest episode of the show. The other one saw the adaptation of the Hellblazer story arc Dangerous Habits, the one involving John Constantine dying from lung cancer.

Lotz praised especially Matt Ryan’s work as the occult detective, revealing that he is “so easy to direct. One, he just has no ego, and you can just give him the slightest little note, and it’s like, he just flies with it. He and Olivia [Swann, who plays Astra] had some really great things together. Their stuff is so cool in the episode. And that’s not even like the action madness part!”

Eventually, John Constantine managed to convince Astra to let him live. As for Caity Lotz, she will return on-screen starting the next episode, and she will have to explain her mysterious disappearance to the rest of the team.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Episode 5.06 will air Mar. 10 at 9/8c on The CW. Did you like Caity Lotz’s directorial debut? Let us know in the comments section below.
