SYFY Premieres the New Trailer for Todd McFarlane: A Documentary

Todd McFarlane is an iconic comic writer, artist, and toy designer who will earn a spot in the Guiness Book of World Records after next week’s Spawn #301 officially becomes the longest-running creator owned comic book series. Now, SYFY will continue to celebrate McFarlane’s contributions to popular culture with a detailed exploration of his career. Via Deadline, SYFY has dropped the first trailer for Todd McFarlane: A Documentary.

The film tells McFarlane’s story from the very beginning, starting with his upbringing in Alberta, Canada. It was during this time that he saw John Byrne discussing comics on television, which inspired him to break into the field. From there, he went on to have a successful run on Marvel’s Amazing Spider-Man, where he pioneered a new technique for drawing the hero’s webbing and co-created new characters like Venom. McFarlane eventually broke away from Marvel and co-founded Image Comics several years later.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald also explains how it felt to see a black superhero grace the pages of Spawn.

Todd McFarlane: A Documentary will premiere on SYFY and online by the end of 2019. You can watch the trailer below, then tell us what you think in the comment section!
