Harry Potter Trailer Takes Fans Back to Hogwarts as HBO Max TV Show Nears Release Date

A new trailer for the HBO Max TV show Harry Potter has been unveiled ahead of its official premiere. The show is an adaptation of J.K. Rowling‘s famous books based on the Wizarding World. However, the trailer, along with other new reveals, suggests that the series could change things a little.

The official synopsis for Harry Potter reads, “An orphan boy, mistreated by his relatives, discovers he’s a wizard. He receives a letter to attend Hogwarts School, where he finds friendship, magic, and adventure — finally discovering the home and love he was always meant to have.”

What do these new reveals tell about HBO’s Wizarding World

Along with the new trailer, Harry’s Hogwarts letter and the crests for the four houses, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, were also revealed. These props for the upcoming series are different from what fans have previously seen on screen.

The new show will adapt Rowling’s first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. In it, an 11-year-old Harry receives his Hogwarts letter and embarks on a journey into the wizarding world. The letter shown in the first look contains the same words in green ink as in the 2001 movie.

However, a striking difference is the Hogwarts crest on the letter. Unlike the previous crest, which portrayed four quadrants for each house, the new crest offers a cleaner look with the house mascots surrounding it.

In addition, the house crests have been revealed ahead of the show’s premiere. These four crests are different and simpler than those previously seen in the movie.

Moreover, the upcoming Harry Potter series is reported to include moments and characters from the books that have not yet been shown on screen. So, although the adaptation would be similar to the 2001 movie, HBO will make changes to the way they portray the story of the boy who lived.

The main cast of Harry Potter includes Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Other members of the ensemble include John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, Nick Frost, Rory Wilmot, and Neville Longbottom, among others.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will have eight episodes. It is set to premiere on HBO Max on December 25, 2026.
