Justifying the enormous cast of Avengers: Doomsday on screen will require giving every character enough room to matter to the narrative. Given that Marvel Studios is set to bring back original X-Men cast members from the Fox era while introducing the Fantastic Four to the Avengers for the first time, substantial screen time will be dedicated to setting up team dynamics and building character relationships.
Reports online suggest that an early cut of Avengers: Doomsday ran for almost 3 hours and 30 minutes. Marvel is allegedly trimming footage to bring the final runtime down to around 2 hours and 50 minutes. The longest theatrical film in MCU history remains Avengers: Endgame, which clocked in at 3 hours and 2 minutes.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Avengers: Endgame Encore re-release is set to add four additional minutes of footage specifically to tease Avengers: Doomsday.

Avengers: Endgame Encore promises fans new footage that directly links the 2019 blockbuster to Doomsday. Following the recent appearance of a placeholder landing page on Disney+, fans have speculated that Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios might be planning a streaming release for the Doomsday preview alongside its theatrical run.
However, no official streaming date has been announced for the extended cut. The landing page currently directs subscribers to the original film’s trailer while displaying its PG-13 rating and genre tags.
The additional footage is expected to bridge Endgame directly into the events of Doomsday. Despite the dozens of projects released throughout Phases 4 and 5, Doomsday is being positioned as a direct thematic successor to Avengers: Endgame. While characters introduced after 2019 will certainly appear, several recent MCU additions are noticeably absent from Marvel’s recommended catch-up watchlist.
