Nicolas Cage just picked his favorite Spider-Man. His pick prompted a response from the star himself. Andrew Garfield has finally reacted to being Cage’s choice for the best portrayal of the web-slinger.
In his latest Esquire U.K. profile published on Tuesday, Garfield gave a heartwarming response to Cage choosing him as his favorite Spider-Man. “That’s the best news I’ve had all day,” the actor reacted.
The British-American actor’s response comes just a few months after Cage shared his favorite Spider-Man in an interview with Complex. The Ghost Rider star, who recently portrayed the titular superhero in the Prime Video miniseries Spider-Noir, said, “I thought Garfield was a really great Spider-Man.”
The American actor added, “I thought he did a really terrific job. He’s a marvelous actor. For all the younger Peter Parker Spider-Men, he was the one that I thought really was quite something to watch.” He concluded, stating, “I would put Garfield as, in my view, the best Spider-Man in cinema.”

Andrew Garfield’s latest projects mark a major shift beyond Spider-Man
Andrew Garfield is gearing up to make his big-screen comeback with two new feature films. The actor plays OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in the upcoming biographical comedy drama, Artificial. The movie centers on Altman’s controversial firing and rehiring in 2023 by OpenAI’s board of directors.
The 43-year-old actor also stars in the upcoming action period drama, The Uprising, based on the 1381 English Peasants’ Revolt. The movie also stars Jamie Bell, Stephen Dillane, Tom Hollander, Cosmo Jarvis, and more. The Uprising arrives in theaters on September 11, 2026. Most recently, Garfield starred in The Magic Faraway Tree, which premiered on August 21, 2026.
In addition to the feature films, Cage’s favorite web-slinger will also appear in the biographical drama miniseries, Wild Things, opposite Jude Law and Justin Theroux. The show is based on the podcast Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy, created by Steven Leckart. It centers on the animal-based magic show entertainers Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn. Filming began in January 2026 in Las Vegas.
