A sequel to 007 First Light seems more likely following the video game’s latest milestone. The popular action-adventure title is developed and published by IO Interactive.
007 First Light was originally released on May 27, 2026, and has sold 4 million units so far. The latest update comes from the official website. The game achieved impressive figures within its first three months of release, becoming one of 2026’s fastest-selling games.
007 First Light has been both a commercial and critical success. IO Interactive stated, “The sustained sales momentum underscores the game’s broad cultural resonance. The launch establishes 007 First Light as one of 2026’s most successful gaming launches, cementing IO Interactive’s position as a leading force in interactive entertainment.”
A sequel could happen in the future. However, it’s just speculation for now and should be taken with a grain of salt. IO Interactive CEO and co-owner Hakan Abrak previously mentioned to Variety that they “are focusing on First Light right now. So sequels and whatnot, theories about that, that’s like far away for us right now.”

What makes 007 First Light stand out as a Bond game
Instead of featuring an experienced James Bond portrayed in the movies, 007 First Light introduces a young, 26-year-old rookie.
The game follows his various encounters, character development, and intense training before he becomes the polished Agent 007. In this origin story, James begins as a reckless recruit in MI6’s training program before earning his iconic title by the end.
The celebrated game features a star-studded cast, led by Patrick Gibson as James Bond. American singer Lenny Kravitz plays the villain Bawma. Other key cast members include Noémie Nakai as Isola Vale, Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Lennie James as Greenway, Kiera Lester as Moneypenny, Gemma Chan as Dr. Selina Tan, Raquel Cipriano as Theresa Lorca, and more.
007 First Light is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is also in development, but its release date is TBD.
