New Mystery Marvel Movie Scores Release Date, MCU Fans Have Big Theories

Disney has quietly approved a release date for an untitled Marvel movie, and fans are already sharing their theories online. The new mystery project came into the spotlight when release dates of upcoming Marvel projects were announced, via Variety.

The untitled Marvel movie has scored a release date of November 9, 2029. Neither Disney nor Marvel revealed an official title, cast, director, or plot details. That has led fans to speculate about which MCU character could headline the 2029 release.

One possibility gaining attention is a standalone Nova project. An X user @ALITUBE06546534 simply replied, “2029 Nova” after the slot became an open question on Marvel’s upcoming release slate. Marvel Studios is currently developing a live-action Nova feature film in the MCU. The studio previously planned to release a television series but reversed its decision and went for a movie. Michael Waldron is currently writing the script, but Marvel has not locked a 2029 release date yet.

Other fans have different theories. One fan @Pjo_Jaceyluv claimed the movie could be “Spider-Man 5 or a “sequel to The Fantastic Four.” @ocramera saw the date as an opportunity that could finally bring a Wanda Maximoff movie.

Marvel has yet to make an official announcement. The studio has multiple projects in development, but none of them are officially connected to the November 2029 date. Shang-Chi‘s sequel, Midnight Suns, and another Deadpool movie are some of the speculated projects with no confirmed release dates.

What other Marvel movies are currently on Disney’s release date calendar?

Disney’s upcoming theatrical slate is packed with major Marvel superhero projects leading the new Phase 7 after the conclusion of Phase 6. Marvel is currently focused on the release of Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. The latter title officially concludes the current Multiverse Saga and will likely introduce a brand-new story with a restructured universe. @ERCboxoffice released Marvel’s release schedule after Secret Wars.

The untitled X-Men reboot film leads the slate, arriving on May 5, 2028, followed by the untitled Ghost Rider (Ryan Gosling) on July 28, 2028. Black Panther 3 rounds out 2028 with a December release. The mystery November 2029 film currently stands as the only unclaimed title, offering fans plenty of room to speculate.
