A new Avengers: Doomsday rumor hints at the MCU’s surprising new leaders that might leave fans surprised. The Avengers might have some unexpected leaders heading the team against Doctor Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters later this year on December 18, 2026. With just a few months left before the next big project arrives, Marvel has managed to keep most details under wraps. Although Marvel has not officially shed light on how the Avengers lineup will function in Doomsday, a Marvel fan who claims to have seen the movie has offered an interesting take.
@TheJamesMk took to X and posted, “Hey guys, ask me anything! I’ll answer the most interesting questions, about literally anything!!!!!”. Following this, @joaoalves1_ asked, “Doomsday’s gonna have lines that get everyone hyped up and screaming? Can you quote one that’s 100% guaranteed?”
@TheJamesMk replied, “Dialogue? I don’t have access to dialogue, that’s just from watching the movie, but the only thing I know is that Yelena and Sam shout Avengers Assemble together.”
However, this claim appears to contrast with what The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman previously stated. Speaking to Variety last month, Shakman previously described Reed Richards’ journey and said, “He [Reed Richards] goes from being the nerdy scientist who’s locked away in the lab, to the husband and the father who’d do anything to protect his family, to the guy who’s leading the Avengers. I realized that the version we were building had to have all of those elements.”
What does the new Avengers: Doomsday rumor mean for Secret Wars?
Currently, Yelena Belova and Sam Wilson are two of the most important characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sam has taken up Captain America’s mantle, and Yelena is now the new Black Widow. Florence Pugh’s character also made a guest appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, this possibility raises another question surrounding Mr. Fantastic, aka Reed Richards, played by Pedro Pascal.
Now, if Shakman’s comments accurately reflect Reed’s role in the film, then the MCU could potentially be setting up two Avengers teams to fight Doctor Doom in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Marvel Studios has confirmed that Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to hit the screens on December 17, 2027.
