New concept art reveals Scorpion could look different in Spider-Man 4. The famous supervillain made his appearance in the latest MCU blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day, led by Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
Thanks to fresh concept art from the official book Spider-Man: Brand New Day – The Art of the Movie, it has come to light that Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan/Scorpion originally had a mask on his face before this look was discarded from the final version of the movie.
The concept art shows different iterations of Scorpion’s mask, both in close-up and full-body poses. One image even shows him up wearing a stylish overcoat.
The Spider-Man 4 concept art hints at a more comic-accurate Scorpion
The concept art presents a good look at various angles of Michael Mando’s Scorpion in the full-headed green mask. This look would undoubtedly have been a comic-accurate version of the supervillain.
Spider-Man 4’s final theatrical cut didn’t feature a single scene of the villain in his iconic mask. But it did include another comic-accurate moment that Marvel fans will appreciate.
In the first half of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there’s a brief fight sequence between Peter Parker and Mando’s Scorpion, where the villain attacks the superhero with his deadly sting. This shot was an exact recreation of 2016’s Spider-Man Adventures Volume 1: The Sting of Scorpion comic book cover.
Speaking of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, its ensemble cast also includes Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher. Liza Colón-Zayas, Tramell Tillman, Luke Gross, and Marvin ‘Krondon’ Jones III also play crucial roles.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now playing in theaters. The movie has been on a record-breaking streak since its release last month. It made $360 million in the opening weekend in North America before shooting past $1 billion worldwide in just six days.
