‘I’m a Reject’: Rosario Dawson Opens Up About Cut Spider-Man 4 Scene

Rosario Dawson has started to speak publicly about her cut appearance as Claire Temple in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The Daredevil actress originally shot a scene where she meets Spider-Man, reprising the role from Marvel’s original shows on Netflix.

Speaking at the Daredevil Fan Q&A at GalaxyCon Raleigh 2026, Dawson opened up about her experience reprising the role in Spider-Man. She expressed disappointment because she had already prepared photos and social media posts to share the behind-the-scenes moment with her family, including her grandson who is a huge Spider-Man fan.

“I’m a reject of Spider-Man, and I’m a reject of The Devil’s Rejects. … Because everybody’s in it, it still means that my character is somewhere in the universe. And I really love that. So I hope I get to be Claire again. I feel like I get to have that with Claire and Ahsoka and a lot of different characters where they meet a lot of different people.”

Why Spider-Man still holds a special place in Rosario Dawson’s life

Despite being cut, Dawson maintains a deep appreciation for the character, largely because of her uncle being a comic book artist who first taught her about Spider-Man. The uncle in question is Gustavo Vanquez, who has penned comics such as Defenders: Strange Heroes, What If? Spider-Man: Back in Black, and more.

Previous reports had claimed that Spider-Man met Temple in a hospital following a fight with the Scorpion. Temple would be the third major element from Daredevil to cross over into an MCU film, following the Punisher and the Hand’s appearances. It is unclear when or if Dawson will reprise the role in a future Marvel project. Several characters from Marvel’s shows on Netflix will return in Daredevil: Born Again season 3 next year.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently playing in theaters. The film recently grossed over $1 billion, breaking many records previously held by Avatar 2 and Avengers: Endgame.
