Why Sadie Sink’s MCU Character Was So Hard for Leakers to Figure Out Revealed

Sadie Sink finally made her MCU debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, ending months of speculation about her mystery role. Fans and scoopers had debated several possibilities before the movie’s release. However, the final reveal showed that Sink was playing Jean Grey. A popular scooper has now explained why so many rumors were completely wrong.

According to industry insider MyTimeToShineHello, the confusion was the result of Marvel’s intentionally aggressive anti-spoiler security during production.

The scooper wrote, “The names they used for her on set made it seem like she was a different character, which is why I and others initially thought she was someone else. But it turned out to be a production misdirection. Not long after, I learned she’s actually Jean Grey, and from that point on I only referred to her as Jean Grey.”

This confirms Marvel intentionally used decoy character names on set to avoid spoilers. As a result, even prominent scoopers were misled before the truth was finally revealed.

Who was Sadie Sink rumored to be playing before it was revealed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

Prior to the movie hitting theaters, rumors about Sink playing different Marvel characters emerged. People thought she might be Gwen Stacy, Rachel Cole, Firestar, or even Jean Grey. Speculations were changing from time to time during production.

The finished movie confirms that Sink plays Jean Grey while introducing the powerful mutant to the main MCU timeline. Initially, her character is shown as a mysterious threat. Later, she becomes Peter Parker’s ally after the truth behind her actions is revealed. This role also sets up a new chapter for Jean Grey’s life in Marvel’s growing mutant universe.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day features Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, Mark Ruffalo, and Sadie Sink.

The movie is currently playing in theaters worldwide.
