A new casting update suggests Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot may have added another actor to its growing lineup. The latest development has drawn renewed attention to the highly anticipated reboot of the iconic mutant franchise.
Charles Melton rumored to have closed his deal to star in Marvel’s X-Men reboot
A new rumor suggests Charles Melton may have become the latest addition to Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot.
According to a recent post from industry insider MyTimeToShineHello, the actor has reportedly finalized his agreement to join the project. “Charles Melton has indeed closed his deal to star in X-Men,” as per post. While the report has fueled fresh discussion about the film’s cast, Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed Melton’s involvement.
The latest report builds on earlier speculation from June, when the same insider claimed that Melton was in discussions for a role in the reboot. At that stage, the actor was only rumored to be in negotiations, with no signal that an agreement had been reached. The new update now suggests those talks have progressed, but the studio has yet to publicly confirm his involvement.
Earlier reports also suggested that Marvel Studios was still evaluating several key roles. Two weeks ago, industry insider Jeff Sneider claimed that casting had not yet been finalized across the board. “Of course, others are still in the mix, such as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star Peter Claffey, while even more actors are still waiting to read for the plum part,” he stated.
The reboot has also continued to move forward behind the scenes. Jake Schreier, who helmed Thunderbolts*, was confirmed to direct the film for Marvel Studios. The project is expected to take place after the events of Avengers: Secret Wars and will introduce a completely new version of the X-Men.
