Spider-Man: Brand New Day had its early theatrical release and received its scores. Fans are expecting similar success from the latest instalment based on the previous web-slinger films’ scores.
At the time of this article’s publication, the movie has an 89% score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, based on 94 reviews. This is impressive but not surprising, as all Marvel movies starring the web-slinger have earned similarly high scores on the platform.
For instance, both Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man: No Way Home and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 currently sit at 93% scores.
However, MCU fans want the new instalment to go beyond these scores and break the record. If the latest movie gains 4% more, it would match the highest-rated Spider-Man movies; a 5% increase, however, would see it break the record entirely with the top score.
Since the reviews are still being filled in, there’s a chance of a record break on the platform.
What is the plot of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and who else stars in it?
The new wall-crawler movie starring Holland as the friendly-neighborhood Spider-Man has a completely different storyline from its previous movies. It takes the web-slinger on a new journey of isolation, as everyone has forgotten who he is.

The official synopsis of the movie reads, “It’s a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him, and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him, sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves, a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.”
In the movie, the web-slinger will face new challenges, including Scorpion, Tombstone, The Hand, Hulk, and Sadie Sink’s character. However, he teams up with Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, to help him fight these adversaries.
The movie is helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The ensemble also includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, and Krondon.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters worldwide on July 31, 2026.
