Spider-Man: Brand New Day almost featured another connection to Marvel’s Defenders’ Saga. According to an MCU star, she did film a scene for the latest Spider-Man movie. However, the crossover did not ultimately happen, as the scene was cut from the final product.
What Rosario Dawson revealed about the scrapped appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
In a recent appearance at GalaxyCon, Rosario Dawson dropped a surprising revelation. Dawson, who plays the role of Claire Temple in the Defenders Saga, confirmed having filmed a scene for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Dawson said, “I even shot a scene in the new Spider-Man movie, but I got cut out.”
Dawson has played the role of Temple in 32 episodes of Marvel’s Netflix era. The character was initially introduced in Daredevil. But later on, the compassionate nurse was also spotted in the universes of Iron Fist, The Defenders, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones.
Dawson’s comments line up accurately with an old report from a Marvel tipper, DanielRPK. The report stated that the character of Claire Temple might feature in the latest edition of Spider-Man to attend to an injured hero.
Since the last Spider-Man movie, the MCU has started to incorporate the Defenders Saga characters. Daredevil, played by Charlie Cox, appeared both in No Way Home and She-Hulk. Now, with Spider-Man fighting street-level crimes in New York, fans assumed that the MCU might bring in more characters from Netflix’s Defenders saga. But it’s clear now that it is not going to happen.
Speaking about the story, Parker is pained to witness his near and dear ones move on without him while he lives life alone as a superhero. Such a massive change in his life seemed to have sparked a change within him (as shown in trailers), which Parker might not be able to control. However, till now, there has been no definitive reveal as to what the plot will truly explore.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit the theaters on July 31, 2026.
