What happened in Blue Lock Chapter 348?

The previous chapter, titled “This Is It,” explored what the Blue Lock Side-B team is up to. The team is given a challenge in which two players will act as birds, and the remaining players will be the bird cage, trying to stop the birds from stealing the ball. Nagi and Kira team up for the first round as birds.

The match kicks off with other players passing the ball among themselves. Kira realizes that tackling them one by one won’t work, so he and Nagi come up with a strategy to corner someone. The ball soon lands with Nishioka, who, instead of passing the ball to another player, accidentally kicks it towards Nagi, hitting him in the face.

Suddenly, Shindo takes the pass and tells Nagi and Kira that they can’t win just by touching the ball. Soon, the time runs out, with Nagi and Kira failing to pass. Before Round 2 begins, Shindo states that this program will test the team’s synergy, which is opposite to Blue Lock’s Egoist philosophy. He then chooses Kira to team up for the next round.

As the next round commences, Shindo and Kira corner a player. When the player tries to pass, Kira intercepts it. But Nagi shows up, trying to take the ball. In a surprising twist, Shindo kicks the ball, intentionally hitting Nagi’s face.

As other players are shocked by the move, Shindo says he was not playing dirty and that it was part of his strategy to stop Nagi. With the ball in their possession, Shindo and Kira pass the round. Meanwhile, Nagi expresses frustration at losing. Round 3 begins with Nagi and Mizuki as birds.
