What happened in Blue Lock Chapter 339?

The previous chapter, “Worst Possible Situation,” opened with the Blue Lock team discussing the first half. The team understands that putting Isagi at the center of all their strategy is why they are losing.

While Isagi contemplates silently, Karasu says they’ll make new plans as they did earlier. Ego walks into the room and asks Karasu whether he’s trying to kill Blue Lock with his plans. While Ego praised Karasu for his earlier play, he notes that the team’s mindset is the core problem.

Ego says that if every player plays according to their suitability, football will become nothing but a competition of physical abilities and tactics. He then urges everyone to be the best striker and briefs them on a new formation that doesn’t depend on Isagi.

Meanwhile, in the French locker room, the team’s coach praises and urges them to go make history. On their way to the field, Loki asks Charles to pass the ball to him so that he can score at least once by the end of the match. Hugo comes along and says that Loki will get his chance, knowing Blue Lock has replaced three players and is using a new formation.

On the field, Kunigami, Barou, and Shidou are excited to start the match after replacing Chigiri, Niko, and Bachira. Isagi acknowledges his team’s all-offense formation and feels excited despite knowing that Hugo has a bigger dream and is a smarter player.
