An Oscar nominee is reportedly being eyed for an MCU X-Men movie.
Marvel Studios is releasing Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, alongside Sony Pictures this summer, as that movie is currently scheduled to arrive on July 31, 2026. After that, the MCU continues with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the former of which arrives this December and the latter of which will be released in 2027. Shows like Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, VisionQuest, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 are additionally expected to premiere this year.
After Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel is expected to start focusing on mutant characters more heavily. There haven’t been many formal announcements regarding what this will look like; however, it is known that Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier is helming an X-Men movie. That project does not yet have a release date.
Who is being eyed for an X-Men role in the MCU?
While no casting details about the MCU X-Men have been shared at this time, scooper MyTimeToShineHello claims that Marvel has one actor in mind who is “very high” on their list to play an X-Men role: Jacob Elordi.
This rumor follows a recent flood of speculation regarding Elordi and James Bond. The actor has not been officially cast as Bond or in an X-Men project, meaning both these items should be taken with a grain of salt. It’s still unclear if Elordi would be interested in playing an X-Men character, if MyTimeToShineHello’s reporting is accurate.
Elordi has received a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award nomination for her performance in 2025’s Frankenstein. Known for playing Nate Jacobs in HBO’s Euphoria and Noah Flynn in the Kissing Booth movies, Elordi’s filmography also includes 2023’s Priscilla, 2023’s Saltburn, 2024’s Oh, Canada, 2024’s On Swift Horses, and 2026’s Wuthering Heights. He’ll soon be seen acting alongside Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley in Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, which arrives in August.
